It Takes Two

Lately we’ve been doing a lot of duo shows, not so much by choice but because the venues only want to pay for  two people. Nothing beats a full band Rockin45s show but I have to admit that the duo shows are becoming very fun and satisfying.

We take some pride in that fact that we can not only keep a crowd entertained for 4 straight hours with just and acoustic guitar and vocals, but also keep them up and dancing like there’s a full band. This past Monday, we had the pleasure of doing a duo show at Venetian Shores and it was a perfect Summer evening for it. The beach hut was packed like a weekend night, the weather was superb and the boats and jets skis out on the bay all screamed out Let The Summer Begin! The manager of the beach hut said she couldn’t believe that with just an acoustic guitar we had more people dancing than most bands that play there. That’s very gratifying to hear because we truly are more about providing good times than giving a concert.

One of the nice things about duo work is that the equipment is so much easier to manage. We have been working with a new system that is designed specifically for the kind of shows we’ve been doing and the sound has been complimented by many people. One musician who was at the last show made it a point to come and ask about the sound system saying he could hear every note with perfect clarity from three baseball fields away.

With all that said, there is no match for the fun and interaction of the full band Rockin45s experience. Tomorrow we kick off the Summer of 2017 at Cedar Beach, which is the biggest and most exciting of the beach huts to play, and it looks like the weather may just cooperate. We’re excited and hope to see our friends come out to help us light the fuse for the season.
